We recall that yesterday “Reuters“ published a document that allegedly is the American proposal to end the war in Ukraine. American negotiator Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin the day after Donald Trump announced that occupied Crimea should remain for Russia.
According to Tagarev, there are differences, however. “The American proposal requires them to sit down and talk about a ceasefire agreement, while the Ukrainian-European one says “ceasefire on land, air and sea“ - a categorical condition for seeking solutions“, he said.
According to him, there is a psychological moment in which Vladimir Putin and his team have pushed the idea that they can give up something they do not possess.
“They are not giving up anything at the moment, but this is presented as a concession by the Americans. Russia has not done any so far“, Tagarev stressed.
“Donald Trump returned the Russian president to the geopolitical scene, recognized him as a player, and he is a war criminal. Before the American head of state called him and the negotiations began, most European countries considered Putin a criminal wanted for arrest“, the former minister said.
