The three-day celebrations begin on the occasion of 1160 years since the baptism of the Bulgarian people and 1170 years since the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet, organized by the Varna and Veliko Preslav Metropolis of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, BPR reports.
The celebrations will take place in Varna, Pliska and Shumen, and Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil will lead the solemn services for the two anniversaries.
This evening at 6:00 PM he will lead the festive service in the Metropolitan Cathedral of the "Assumption of the Virgin" in Varna, as well as the morning liturgy on May 2. On Friday evening, His Holiness will serve a prayer service in the courtyard of the Great Basilica in Pliska, where a festive concert will take place later in the evening.
On Saturday, May 3, Patriarch Daniil will be welcomed in Shumen, where he will serve a prayer service in the church of the "Holy Three Saints". On the occasion of the two historical anniversaries, a plenary scientific session will be held at the University of Shumen on Sunday.
