Residents of the Yambol villages of Voynika and Tamarino are protesting over the dangerous 11-kilometer section and the lack of road repairs. Despite having repeatedly signaled over the years, repairs have not been made and dissatisfaction is growing with each passing year.
The blockade is scheduled for noon. People warn that if they are not heard, the protests will continue every month, writes BNT.
The protest is scheduled for exactly 12:00 because of the poor condition of the road. This is actually a republican road that connects Yambol with the sea and is an alternative route to the Southern Black Sea Coast.
Maria Georgieva, mayor of the village of Voynika: "Residents from the villages of Voynika and Tamarino have gathered here to launch the protest. An initiative committee has collected over 400 signatures. From 12:00 to 14:00 we will protest by closing the section between the village of Tamarino and the village of Voynika. Projects have been made for several years to carry out a major repair of this section, but nothing has happened so far and that is why the tension is growing."
Due to the poor condition of the road, many cars break down, an ambulance cannot arrive on time, since the Emergency Center serves several villages in the area. School buses also pass through there every day, which is why the residents are demanding urgent repairs.
The Regional Road Administration in Yambol said that the project for this section is already ready and it is expected that the actual repair of the road will begin after the procedures are completed in the summer.
