The red zone in Sofia should be 5 leva per hour - 1

The construction of new parking lots and the submission of a report on changes to the paid parking zone are imminent. This was announced on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria” by the capital's mayor Vasil Terziev.

One of the proposals is to introduce a “red zone”, the price of which would be 5 leva per hour, the mayor explained and added that he firmly supports the changes.

“We will see what political agreement can be reached for. Big topics require great political agreement. Because of the fragmentation we have, they require very broad agreement”, said Terziev.

According to him, most of the parking lots that will be built in Sofia have been included as projects. The value is 100 million. “A dozen parking lots will be started this year”, said Terziev.

“The parking problem is comprehensive. It will not be solved with 100 parking lots. Each for 300 cars – that's 30,000 cars, and there are 1 million in Sofia”, commented Terziev.

“We will see if there is a majority for Sofia's problems or everyone will still be looking for a short-term scandal”, said Terziev.

Previously, Terziev also commented on the decision of “Save Sofia” to leave the coalition with PP-DB.

“We have never had a majority in the Municipal Council. We have never had at least 31 votes to easily pass key policies. Now it is becoming just as difficult as it was yesterday. You always have to step on good ideas that are in the interest of Sofia residents and put 61 people in a position to refuse”, said Terziev.

About the Chief Architect of Sofia

He called “complete nonsense” the hints of connections between the new chief architect of the capital, Bogdana Panayotova, and the leader of “DPS-New Beginning”. “If Mr. Bonev has information, let him share it”, said Terziev.

”Before I asked Ms. Panayotova to take a polygraph, I did the same. I answered the question whether I had made decisions under pressure – I had not. This is one of the problems. Many people annoy them that I am not obedient. But I haven't come this far to be told what to do," said Terziev.

The competition for the appointment of a chief architect was the most transparent, the mayor believes. "For the moment, I have no reason to doubt its integrity," he said.

About the 215-meter skyscraper in Sofia

A construction permit for the 215-meter skyscraper has been denied. We are continuing with the legality of the development plan, said Terziev.

About the changes in the “Metropolitan”

“Mr. Bratoev is an exceptional professional who has managed this structure well over the years. And not under one mayor. Before Mr. Borisov, Mr. Bratoev was there and built a metro. "There have been no scandals over the years. What they did is unprecedented. They didn't even notify their principal - the Municipal Council," Terziev said.
