Indian foreign ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the deployment of Indian workers to Israel. “An intergovernmental agreement on this was reached before the start of the conflict (in the Gaza Strip) and in accordance with it, the first batch of workers has already left for Israel. We have called on the Israeli government to ensure their safety and well-being while they are working in this country,” the diplomat told reporters.
According to local media, over the past six months, 800 people have left India to work in Israel's agricultural sector. 18,000 nurses from India now work in Israeli hospitals.
Under a bilateral agreement, India will send 42,000 of its citizens to Israel, who will be employed in the construction sector and care for patients in Israeli clinics.
