The case continues with the interrogation of witnesses for the accident near Svoge, in which 20 people died. The incident happened on August 25, 2018.
The indictment was returned three times to the prosecutor's office due to discovered committed violations. The defendant is the driver of the bus who turned around - Grigor Grigorov, and five others - Biser Ivanov, Svetoslav Trifonov, Ivan Ivanov, Stella Popnikolova and Michaela Tomova. The charges are for negligent causing death to more than one person and bodily harm to others in the crash. Grigor Grigorov is accused of causing the death of 20 people and physical injuries to ten others as a result of an accident while driving a vehicle.
The prosecutor's office claims that the accident happened on wet pavement after the bus entered oncoming traffic. He hit two cars and then crashed into the guardrail, went through it and into the side ramp. There he overturned and stopped in the ravine.
The vehicle was traveling at 53.5 km/h. Thus, according to the prosecution, at this speed the driver did not have the opportunity to turn without entering the oncoming lane. This was only possible if he kept to the maximum permissible speed of 40 km/h. The investigators also have complaints about the quality of the road surface in the area of the accident.
The materials in the case are about 270 volumes, more than 100 witnesses were questioned, there are also conclusions of dozens of experts.
