The two defendants were sentenced to 8 months in prison each for the beating of the secretary of the former Bulgarian club in Ohrid “Tsar Boris the Third” Hristiyan Pendikov. This was announced to NOVA by Pendikov's lawyer Stefan Kamishevski.
The Ohrid court found Iliya Spaseski and Borche Angelov guilty of causing grievous bodily harm at first instance. However, it acquitted them on the charge that they beat Pendikov out of hatred towards Bulgarians.
The case in Ohrid lasted two years. After the beating, Pendikov was transported by the government “Falcon” from North Macedonia to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia, and later received Bulgarian citizenship.
