The Burgas District Court decided today that the man detained for the murder in a residential building in the Nessebar village of Kosharitsa will remain in custody. According to the state prosecution, the crime committed on April 17 was committed with particular cruelty.
During the hearing, it became clear that sufficient evidence had been collected during the pre-trial proceedings from which a reasonable assumption could be made of the defendant's complicity in the commission of the crime. For such an act, the law provides for a penalty of imprisonment of 15 to 20 years, life imprisonment, or life imprisonment without parole.
An interesting point in the case is that the accused himself requested that a preventive measure be taken against him "detention in custody". The motive behind this unusual request is the danger of self-harm by the victim's relatives.
The decision of the Burgas District Court is subject to appeal or protest within three days before the Burgas Court of Appeal.
