American actor and director Roger Corman, called the "Pope of Pop Cinema", " ;The spiritual godfather of the new Hollywood" and "King of the Cult" died at the age of 98, reported ABC News, quoted by FOCUS.
According to the publication, he died on May 9 at his home in California. The cause of his death has not been specified.
Corman was born on April 5, 1926 in Detroit. He made his first film in 1955. He is also known as a director who knew how to make films quickly and with a small budget. In 1960 he created "Little Shop of Horrors" in just two days and thirty thousand dollars.
Corman starred in fifty projects, including the cult films "The Godfather" and "The Silence of the Lambs". In 2009, he was awarded the "Oscar" for contribution to the development of cinema.
