The winners of the “Askeer“ for the year 2024 were announced last night by the theater academy of the same name “Bulgarian Army”, reported BNT.
Winner in the category “Modern Bulgarian Drama“ is Boris Krastev – for “The Tower” („Theatre 199“).
„Askeer“ Maria Stefanova took the leading role – for her role as the Pink Lady in “Oscar and the Pink Lady” by Eric-Emmanuel Schmidt (dir. Stefan Spasov, “ Theater 199“), and Konstantin Sokolov – for Peter in “The Boot” by Lilo Petrov (dir. Stoyan Radev Ge. K., Theater and Music Production Center Varna – Drama Theater “Stoyan Bachvarov“ – Varna).
Margita Gosheva was awarded for supporting role – for the role of Pythias in “Oedipus and the Prophets" by Sophocles (dir. Diana Dobreva, theater “Nikolay O. Masalitinov“ – Plovdiv) and Ivan Nikolov – about the roles of Leonardo, Igor and the publisher in “Petrovi in the flu and around him” based on Alexey Salnikov (dir. Boyan Kracholov, National Theater) and the role of Nikolai Ivanovich in “Platonoff” by A. P. Chekhov (dir. Margarita Mladenova and Ivan Dobchev, “Sfumato").
Prima Facie by Susie Miller, consultant – Svetlana Yancheva, scenography and costumes – Vanina Tsandeva, graphic design – Teodora Simova, with the participation of Elena Telbis (“Toplotsentrala“).
For the direction “Askeer“ was given to Veselka Kuncheva – about “The Transfiguration” by Franz Kafka (Drama Theater “Nikola Vaptsarov“ – Blagoevgrad).
The best performance was awarded to “Beautiful green bird“ based on Carlo Gozzi (dir. Anastasia Sabeva) in the “Geo Milev” – Stara Zagora and State Opera – Stara Zagora).
„Askeer“ for a rising star took the association “Noise and fury“ for “Cinema “Lenta“ by Maria Strashilova (cinema “Vlaikova“).
The scenography award goes to Marieta Golomehova – for “The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde (dir. Veselka Kuncheva, drama theater “Racho Stoyanov" – Gabrovo, and for “The Transfiguration” based on Franz Kafka, dir. Veselka Kuncheva, drama theater “Nikola Vaptsarov“ – Blagoevgrad).
Elena Natsaridou was awarded for costume design – for “Marko Kings – the last Balkan legend“ by Vladimir Levchev (dir. Anastasia Sabeva, Drama Theater “Sava Ognyanov“ – Ruse).
The „Askeer“ for theater music is for Emilian Gatsov-Elbi – for “Backyard Games“ (theatre “Sofia“).
Two of the holders of “Askeer“ for the year 2024 were announced at the end of April by the eponymous academy of the “Bulgarian Army“ theater. Rusi Chanev received the statuette for overall contribution to theater art, and Mimosa Bazova – honorary “Askeer“.
The awarding ceremony was called “Theatrical commotion” and is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Yordan Radichkov's birth.
