From July 16 to 20, Sofia residents and guests of the capital can see the best ensembles of Bolivia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Moldova and North Macedonia. They will take part in the 28th consecutive edition of the "Vitosha" international folklore festival.
Lovers of folk dances can watch the best dancers from the countries in question completely free of charge on the stage of the People's Community Center “Vitosha-1951”.
This year's edition was kicked off with a dance flashmob in the restored iconic building of the Central Halls. The Bulgarian folk dance ensemble “Sofia-6“ surprised the visitors in the Halls with his performance of a straight dance around the fountain in the building. After the music filled the commercial part of the space, all the participants of the international festival in their traditional costumes, as well as the shoppers in the hypermarket, joined the chorus.
After the performances in the Central Halls, all the participants, dressed in their rich folk costumes, showed the world's folklore wealth in their traditional festive procession along the pedestrian section of “Vitosha“ Blvd.
The program of the 28th edition of the International Folklore Festival “Vitosha“ continues until Sunday in the People's Community Center “Vitosha-1951” (ul. “Gen. Al. V. Suvorov“ 68). There, the spectators will be able to immerse themselves in the dance performances of some of the best Bulgarian ensembles, as well as the spectacular dances of the representatives from Albania, Bolivia, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Moldova and North Macedonia.
Residents and guests of Sofia will be able to view the exhibition of the festival, which will be located in front of the summer cinema “Cabana”. She will walk the visitors through the previous editions of the Vitosha International Folklore Festival, introducing them to the beauty of ensembles from five continents.
