Director Laurent Thirard died at the age of 57, AFP reported. quoted by BTA, citing a representative of the creator.

Laurent Thirard is the director and screenwriter of the film “Little Nicholas” (Le petit Nicolas) from 2009, which achieved worldwide success. In addition, he brings to the big screen the adventures of the comic book characters Asterix and Obelix in the production “Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britain” in 2012
Laurent Thirard was born in Roubaix, northern France. He studied the subtleties of cinematography at New York University.
The director was fighting cancer since 2012, AFP recalls.
