Dua Lipa and Cher opened the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday night in Cleveland with the song “Believe”, the Associated Press reported, citing BTA.

This year, the funk masters “Cool and the Gang“ were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Kool & the Gang), the rock group Foreigner, the English rock singer and guitarist Peter Frampton, the American singer, actress and TV presenter Dionne Warwick and others.

Among the honorees are the American rapper Mary J. Blige, the hip-hop group “A Tribe Called Quest” (A Tribe Called Quest), American rock group Dave Matthews Band, British rock musician Ozzy Osbourne, the late Jimmy Buffett, MC Five, the late Alexis Korner, the late John Mayall, the late Norman Whitfield, and the late American singer-songwriter “ Big Mama“ Thornton.

Actress Zendaya introduced Cher, stating that her name is as legendary as her legacy. Zendaya noted that Cher, 78, is the only woman to have a No. 1 song on the “Billboard” in each of the last seven decades.

In her speech, Cher said she was inspired by Cinderella and thanked her mothers for teaching her to never give up.

Chuck D introduced “Cool and the Gang”, noting that the group had 12 top 10 hits on the “Billboard Hot 100”.

American singer-songwriter Sammy Hagar introduced Foreigner, who topped the charts in the 1970s and 1980s but until last year had never made the Hall - much less the ballot, despite meeting the conditions more than 20 years.

The Who's Roger Daltrey introduced Peter Frampton, noting that “it's probably easier to list the people he hasn't worked with than the ones he has worked with.

Frampton made his way into the Hall of Fame largely thanks to his double album “Frampton Comes Alive“ from 1976, which magazine “Rolling Stones“ included among the 50 greatest live albums of all time.

Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago before they can be listed. Over 1,000 performers, historians and professionals from the music industry voted for the nominees, the Associated Press notes.

The chairman of the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” John Sykes said before the ceremony that he and the Hall were trying to bring the induction back to its rock roots, not expand the category.
