The Rector and Chairman of the General Assembly of the University of Library Science and Information Technologies in Sofia - UniBIT, Prof. Stoyan Denchev celebrated his birthday, honored by over 640 guests. The greetings to the respected economist and public figure lasted three and a half hours.
The guests of the festive event were specially received by the "Solemn" hall - the most representative place in UniBIT. Long before the announced starting time, politicians, scientists, public figures and friends of the birthday boy began to arrive there. Among the first guests were the mayor of the town of Elhovo, the birthplace of Prof. Denchev, with his wife, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, Minister of Regional Development, the modern artist Pavel Mitkov and many other friends of the birthday boy.
At the beginning of the celebration, he greeted those present, thanking them for the respectful gesture “in such a stormy time for our country and the world“.
The greetings to Prof. Stoyan Denchev followed one after another, but the neighbors and diplomats were the first to speak. The former Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Prof. Vlado Buckovski, emphasized “in the language of Cyril and Methodius“ the benefits of their friendship over the three decades of cooperation, thanks to which many young Macedonians, Albanians, Turks and Kosovars have received degrees at UniBIT, which he called a “brand“ in Macedonia - mostly because of the efforts of the birthday boy.
Prof. Stoyan Denchev was also congratulated by the current Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to our country, H.E. Ms. Agneza Rusi Popovska, who called him and the university “an example of building bridges in bilateral relations, and with respect.“
H.E. Mrs. Zakia El Midaoui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco and doyen of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria, also extended her greetings, emphasizing the merits of the birthday boy for the development of bilateral relations.
After her, it was the turn of the President (from 2002 to 2012) Mr. Georgi Parvanov. He called Prof. Stoyan Denchev “a true patriot and patriot“, a man who “has proven himself over the decades not only as a good leader in the field of science, but also an exceptional public figure, seething and seething in some of the most interesting and important events of the new Bulgarian history“.
