Today is a bright holiday. The first Sunday after Easter is called Thomas Sunday.

During Thomas's week, the resurrected Jesus Christ began to appear to his disciples. When word spread that the body of the Savior was not in the cave and that he had risen, only the apostle Thomas did not believe it.

Also, on Tomina Sunday, eggs are re-dyed and given out for the souls of the departed. It is believed that in this way their loved ones protect them from reincarnation.

The first Monday after Thomas Sunday is called “Sofinden”, “Suvia”, “Suvinden”.

The drought is respected. According to folk beliefs, the day is “hatalia” – a bad day. Therefore, certain prohibitions are observed. Women do not wash or dry clothes. It is not dug or sown, “ so that the food does not dry out”. Do not boil milk, “so that it does not rise” the milk of the cattle and that they do not become sores.

On Sofinden, an old custom is performed to protect people and livestock from the disease “topalak” (not to limp). Before the sun rises, the women tie a woolen rag or a man's scarf to a stake on the fence and call: “Let the topalak stay here!”; “A stake should be lame, a horse should not be lame, a stake should be lame, an ox should not be lame, a stake should be lame, a horse should not be lame”.
