Today the Orthodox Church honors the Holy Martyrs Codratus and Galina.
The Holy Martyr Codratus was born in the desert to a mother named Rufina - a Christian refugee from Corinth.
The infant miraculously lived in the desert, protected by God and guided by the Holy Spirit. Already a young man, he was found by believers who took him to the city, where he healed diseases with the grace given to him from above.
By order of the wicked Roman emperor Decius, persecutions of Christians were begun in Corinth and in Corinth. Saint Codratus was also captured.
They tortured him cruelly, but he remained steadfast in his faith. Finally, Saint Codratus and other zealous Christians were beheaded outside the city on the tenth day of the month of March.
At the place where the holy martyrs were killed, a spring flowed to remind Corinth of their suffering.
Holy women also decided to suffer in the name of Christ, imitating Saint Codratus - one of them was Saint Galina.
The Holy Martyr Galina suffered during the reign of Emperor Decius Trajan in Corinth and was a follower of the Holy Martyr Codratus. The regional governor of the region initiated a persecution of Christians, in which many men and women faithful to the Christian faith suffered.
On this day, the six martyrs - Codratus, Cyprian, Dionysius, Anectus, Paul and Crescentius were tortured and killed in various ways, along with other captured Christians.
Today, Galin, Galina, Galena and Galya celebrate their name day.
Who has a name day today, March 10. Congratulations!
