Evgeniy Kanev: There is no "battle of the ages", but a deep rift of life and death - 1

A few days ago I wrote that no theater between Dogan and Peevski can happen and a word - as the fastest thesis was launched, not without the help of a prominent DPS analyst. There is no ”fight of the ages”, but a deep rift of life and death.
A few words about the pre-start positions. One of the reasons why Dogan has had so many conflicts with his deputies over the years is his passion for the material, but not in the philosophical sense. A summary of this passion is his now-forgotten interview in the past, when he was accused of having a yacht, he replies - “if I want, I will also buy a space dish, man has one life!”.
However, the money does not come without commitments and.. party conflicts. From the very beginning - thanks to Andrey Lukanov - he is associated with Multigroup, which are the basis of the “Berov” cabinet. after his despatcher joke of the office “Filip Dimitrov”. By the way, after the lost vote of confidence, Filip Dimitrov from the rostrum of the National Assembly warns that a mafia is forming in Bulgaria.
Multigroup's money has always been one of Dogan's main motivators. According to the memory of people close to him, because he owed more than 700 x dollars to Iliya Pavlov before the royal elections in 2001, he gave his quota in the DPS, through which Delyan Peevski later entered. Through such a person, in fact, and through transactions with the state budget, Dogan repays his debts to Pavlov - who has already prepared his deputy.
Pavlov's death sends another financial patron of Peevski - Tsvetan Vasilev, grateful to his mother, who put the lotto money in his bank for a fresh start, and in exchange for (non-refundable) loans, he receives orders from Dogan from the triple coalition, which inflate the bank's assets and so until it bursts. Peevski's media empire, which works for Dogan, was also built with loans from the bank. Even before the collapse of KTB, however, Peevski was an independent economic player (he had already received Bulgartabac), who paid for the political patronage of the DPS, held various positions, and even became a deputy of the DPS. But up to the position in the National Security Service, and even after that, he was something like CFO and chief treasurer of the DPS - with no relation to politics. In this period, the deputyship is more like insurance, and he does not even come to the parliament.
Things began to change after Crimea, the suspension of South Stream and the collapse of KTB, after which Peevski owed over BGN 800 million to Russia. At the same time, Dogan revealed his dependence on Russia after the downing of the Russian plane in Turkey. Dogan already lives on ”Russian land” - the summer barn was built on Lukoil land; they supply it with TPP - Varna and send Russian dredgers to make access to the TPP convenient for Russian water supplies. No one accused Peevski because he has to return the money to Putin (Radev himself told about this debt after meeting with Putin). It seems that they were not returned to the cache, but through the “Turkish Stream” at triple the price in mafia style at the expense of the Bulgarian taxpayers. And when everything is ready - a year later ”comes” Magnetic.
I see Magnitsky as the deepest reason for the rift between Peevski and Dogan.
Despite Peevski's and Borisov's media screeching that Magnitsky means nothing, in practice the “lord” Peevski is no longer a nobody outside of Bulgaria. The money for the largest lobbying firms in the USA, even in the millions, does not help.
And so removing that badge from his lapel becomes his sole purpose. Because of her, he puts Dogan under pressure that all the power in the state, recruited with Peevski's money, will turn against Dogan if he does not make him the leader of the DPS. Because only from such a position - as an institution and through Boris's GERB can it be freed. There have long been rumors about Borisov himself and his ministers that at every meeting with a Western leader they lobby for Peevski.
Peevski became the leader and apparently Dogan backed down, probably thinking he could always replace him. But the large-scale discontent against him was not calculated, which forced Dogan to install a second Turkish president. But a new problem - Peevski never worked in an environment where he could share power or coordinate his actions, and things went on as if he alone was the leader. The problem is not only the ousted second chairman, but that it also applies to all the old authorities around Dogan with a strong influence in the party.
When Peevski felt the ebb after Dogan's meeting with the insurgent asset, for the first time he betrayed his weakness and great tension about his future without DPS. They were letters, explanations, oaths of unity and… letter to the embassy that he is the orthodox Atlantic and Dogan is a Russian agent. With them, Peevski for the first time expressed fear and recognition that things cannot be fixed without Dogan, i.e. that Dogan is the real leader.
The last week, however, also confused Dogan. He had already sold the party (because without settlement of his debts they would hardly let him be the leader), but now he is challenged by the entire Turkish ethnic group and his entire biography as a leader is put on the line against the danger of facing Peevski's state. His security is also in question, because there is no way to be sure how far Peevski will go to stay in the game.
It is very likely that the letter to the embassies is Peevski's call to the West to be saved by… Russia, which will certainly choose Dogan.
Hard days are ahead for Bulgaria.
