The famous Bulgarian screenwriter, writer and satirist Ivo Siromakhov caused a heated discussion on social networks with a sharp post in which he pointed out parents as “the main culprits for the failed Bulgarian education”. In an emotional post that garnered hundreds of shares and comments, Siromakhov criticized modern parents for unreasonably interfering in the work of teachers.
Here is Ivo Siromakhov's entire position:
The main culprit for the failed Bulgarian education is the parents of the students.
Recently, they have gained self-confidence that they can interfere in educational affairs, hold teachers accountable, and give advice on what to learn and what not to learn.
This courage came to them from Facebook, where Bulgarians are the smartest and most knowledgeable. They fix the war, the monuments and Grigor Dimitrov's backhand every day, so won't they be able to do it with just education…
And when simple people decide that things should be done according to their understanding, it gets scary.
The harassment of teachers began, the unacceptable claims “Why did you write a two to a child, huh? He knows everything““ He continued with challenging the curriculum “Why teach him that, he won't need it“ (if his mother didn't teach him and he still knows where to turn on his phone, everything else is unnecessary knowledge) and it ends with “My child is not ill-mannered, this is not vulgarity, but hyperactivity“ (she read this term somewhere in the runaway mom groups and doesn't know what it is, but it sounds like a good excuse to her).
From there, everything collapsed very quickly.
If ordinary people enter the school and start telling what to study and what not, failure is certain.
The same would happen if, during an operation in the hospital, a dozen vigilant Facebook citizens entered the room and started giving the surgeon advice on how to operate.
It got to the point that in order to please these impudent idiots, the ministry included them in some public council that determines the content of the textbooks.
This is madness.
Education is a complex system, incomprehensible to the hollow heads of these parents.
They don't understand what the role of the school is. They don't send their children there to get an education, but so they don't hang around at home. They think that the school should LOOK AFTER their children.
And that the teachers are their servants who must fulfill all the whims of these simple people.
And their idiotic whims never stop echoing on social networks - remove the matriculation exams, simplify the textbooks, why is this being taught, why is that being taught... Why do you give them homework, a child can't rest... Because he's overtired, you see. They made him read a page and a half and he's already burned out, poor thing. His psyche is ruined for life.
It's just that his mother prefers instead of "a child" to do homework, type something on her phone there and not bother her while she's typing on her phone.
If you want us to have a better education, kick the parents out of the school.
They don't belong there. School is a place for educated people.
And stop complaining.
Your children are stupid not because of the school.
It's because of their parents.
