Viktoria Velislavova (left) came sixth in epee at the World Fencing Championships for Youth and Girls in Wuxi (China). Led by coach Dimitar Kanchev, she showed excellent play and demonstrated that her successes over the past two seasons are deserved and she is already among the world fencing elite, BTA reports.

Viktoria Velislavova came out of the groups with four wins from six matches. In the second round of the eliminations, she defeated Salma Elsheikh from Egypt with 15:4, and then eliminated Sun-hee Yang from the Republic of Korea with 15:13. In the match for a place among the top 16, the graduate of the Sofia fencing club defeated Yulia Trinova from Estonia with 15:13. In the dispute for a place in the top 8, Velislavova again showed an exceptionally good game and prevailed over Anastasia Ilyushchenko from the Commonwealth of Independent States with 15:11. In the match for a place on the honorary ladder, the Bulgarian lost to Virag Blanca Nagy from Hungary with 13:15 and finished the competition in sixth position.

Mihaela Stefanova also left the groups with two wins from six matches. In the second round of the eliminations, she lost to Eleonora Orso from Italy with 4:15 and took 115th place in the final standings. Boryana Mitova did not leave the groups.

The World Championship continues with the cadet and cadet epee fights. Yavor Denchev will compete for Bulgaria.
