ADAC conducted another test of summer tires in the popular size 225/40 R18, which is often used in Europe and is installed on many models. This year's results confirmed that the quality of tires significantly affects safety, comfort and environmental friendliness.
The leaders in this year's test are Continental SportContact 7 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport. Both models are distinguished by excellent driving characteristics on dry and wet roads, short braking distances and a high level of comfort. In addition, Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 also show stable results, reaching the top of the ranking.
The middle group includes tires that have a good balance between safety and comfort, but are positioned slightly lower than the leaders in certain disciplines. For example, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro and Yokohama Advan Sport V107 perform well on dry roads, but have slight shortcomings in wet grip and fuel economy.
The outsiders of the test are the Norauto Prevensys 4 and Syron Tyres Premium Performance 2, which show poor results in terms of safety and energy efficiency. The worst result is for the Doublecoin DC-100 - this model demonstrates serious problems with braking, especially on wet roads. The braking distance of 80 km/h for this tire is 17 meters longer than the leader in the test. Due to these indicators, ADAC strongly does not recommend this model.
