Google has started rolling out a new feature to its Android app store. It is designed to protect the user from accidental confirmations of payments or subscriptions. This is done through biometric authorization and password entry.
The new feature adds a slider to the right to Google Play to confirm the final consent to a purchase or subscription, replacing the usual button on the screen. This is especially useful if the user has recently paid for something with the “Do not ask for confirmation“ enabled, which allows multiple payments in a row without re-authentication.
The innovation, announced back in March, is not yet available to all users and will be introduced gradually in different countries. According to unofficial information, in addition to Google Play, such a tool may later appear in applications that offer in-app purchases or subscriptions.
