Belarus will join Russia in the second stage of nuclear exercises, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, quoted by the Russian service of the BBC.
We recall that the Kremlin announced on Monday that it will hold a military exercise that will include training in the use of tactical nuclear weapons in response to statements by Western representatives, which the Russian Defense Ministry defined as provocative threats. According to Putin, the exercise will have three stages.
The exercise was ordered by President Vladimir Putin and aims to test the readiness of Russia's non-strategic nuclear forces to carry out combat missions.
A day after the drills were announced, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the start of a "sudden inspection" of the carriers of tactical nuclear weapons in the armed forces of the country.
