The Secretary General of NATO's Jens Stoltenberg is encouraging alliance members to commit to an annual support fund for Ukraine of at least 40 billion euros. In this way, Ukraine will be provided with financial stability to deal with the consequences of a full-scale invasion of Russia, BTA reports.
Since the beginning of the conflict, NATO allies have provided approximately €40 billion each year to support Ukraine's military needs. Consistent aid has been critical in helping the country protect itself and work towards a secure future.
The topic of financial aid to Ukraine is on the agenda of NATO foreign ministers who are gathering in Prague for a key two-day meeting. Stoltenberg's proposal is expected to be a key point of discussion at a working session tomorrow, where the alliance will discuss the best ways to continue supporting Ukraine.
