Switzerland prepares for Ukraine summit to take place this weekend. The country is taking all measures to ensure that the event goes smoothly, including a large-scale security operation with up to 4,000 military personnel, BTA reports.
Given the arrival of dozens of heads of state, Switzerland has increased security in the area. The area around the summit will be fortified with 6.5 kilometers of fencing and an additional 8 kilometers of barbed wire, creating a strong barrier against any potential threats.
Swiss President Viola Amherd emphasized the importance of these precautions, saying: “An event of this magnitude requires comprehensive protection measures.“
Switzerland is taking no chances when it comes to the safety and security of meeting participants.
The purpose of the summit, set against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Lucerne, is to pave the way for peace for Ukraine.
With around 90 countries and organizations confirmed to attend, the event promises to be a mix of ideas and discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict.
Two major global players, Russia and China, will be absent from the meeting.
