The Polish Peasant Party, which is part of the governing coalition, plans to submit to the Sejma (the lower house of the Polish parliament) a draft law on the patriotic education of the students. This is what the chairman of the party and Minister of National Defense of the Republic, Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamish, told reporters.
„This is a very important bill because we need stability for many years to come for children who are in school. [We need] such a set of reading recommendations, characters, personalities, issues that unite us. It should be adopted in the form of a law so that it cannot be changed with each new government,” the minister noted at a press conference broadcast by TVP Info.
The politician said that the initiative will be submitted for consideration in the Diet in the coming days. Kosiniak-Kamish added that in addition to endorsing a single and unchanged list of folk characters and reading works, the project will encourage trips for students from big cities to agritourism farms to get to know the realities of village life.
At the end of June, the Minister of Education of the Republic, Barbara Nowacka, announced the decision to reduce the number of religious classes in Polish schools from two to one, as of September 1, 2025. At the same time, high school students will begin studying &ldquo ;civic education“.
