The average number of casualties on the Russian side, killed and wounded, has decreased in the last two months. It fell from around 1,262 per day in May to 1,140 in July.
This was announced by the British Ministry of Defense in its daily summary of the war in Ukraine.
Despite the reported decline, the last 3 months Russia has given the most casualties on the front since the beginning of the war in February 2022, according to a report of the Ukrainian General Staff.
The decrease in the average number of killed and wounded is probably the result of the consolidation of the positions of Russian forces in the Kharkiv area. Although this new approach increased the pressure on the front line, the effective Ukrainian defenses and the lack of sufficient training in the Russian ranks reduced the possibility that Russia would achieve greater tactical success.

According to the British Ministry of Defence, Russia will continue to inflict around 1,000 casualties a day as the country continues to conduct operations on a wide front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyne in southern Ukraine.
