"Iran rejects accusations that it supplies ballistic missiles to Russia and calls on other countries to end arms supplies to countries involved in the conflict". This was stated in a statement of the Iranian mission to the UN, published by IRNA.
"On Friday (September 6), the mission said that Iran's position regarding the war in Ukraine, which emphasizes the need to refrain from any measures leading to the escalation of hostilities, has not changed, the Iranian agency wrote.< br />
"Iran's position regarding the conflict in Ukraine remains unchanged. Iran believes that providing military aid to the parties involved in the conflict - leading to increased human casualties, destruction of infrastructure and distance from ceasefire talks - is inhumane."
The Iranian mission also called for an end to arms transfers to any of the warring countries.
"Iran not only refrains from such actions itself, but also calls on other countries to stop supplying weapons to the parties involved in the conflict."
On Friday, US officials expressed concern about what they described as a "dangerous escalation of the war in Ukraine," after Western media reported that Iran had transferred short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.
Since the start of the war in February 2022, Western countries, in particular the US, Britain and France, have repeatedly accused Iran of supplying weapons to Russia.
On Thursday, Iran's UN ambassador Amir Saeed Iravani strongly rejected the "baseless and misleading" accusations in letters he sent to the head of the UN and the president of the Security Council.
"It is paradoxical and hypocritical that three countries that are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine and significantly contribute to its escalation through the supply of modern weapons, boldly make such baseless claims against Iran," Iravani said, adding that the supply of Western weapons has "extended" the war in Ukraine and has caused damage to the civilian population and civilian infrastructure.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran views these statements only as narrow and short-sighted political agendas of these three permanent members of the Council, aiming to advance their own political interests,", the Iranian envoy also stated.
Tehran denies: This is hypocrisy! We have not supplied ballistic missiles to Russia for the war in Ukraine
