Russian forces have seized control of the village of Tarasovka in the Ukrainian Donetsk region, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, BTA reports.
The agency emphasizes that it is unable to verify the claims.
Earlier today, the head of Russian foreign intelligence, Sergei Naryshkin, said that "there is always a chance" that Russia and the US will reach an agreement, but it is not clear whether he was referring to negotiations on the war in Ukraine, Reuters notes.
Russian-American dialogue has intensified with the coming to power of President Donald Trump, TASS notes. Negotiations between representatives of the two countries took place in Riyadh, Istanbul (two rounds) and Moscow. Trump's envoy, Stephen Witkoff, is expected to arrive in Moscow this week, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said.
