Massacres and rapes in Nigeria: no one can stop the extremists - 1

According to a new report, in the last 4 years, nearly 56,000 people have been killed in Nigeria by extremists, reported Aleteia.org.

Attacks, kidnappings and rapes are constant in the African country, and the victims are mostly Christians, but also Muslims and representatives of other religious minorities.

Earlier this month, more than 100 villagers were killed in an attack in the north-east of the country. Over 50 armed extremists stormed a village on motorbikes and opened fire on people in their homes. The police blamed the Muslim extremist group “Boko Haram” for the attack.

The attacks over the past 4 years have had a devastating effect on the country. Many people are afraid and blame the authorities for not being able to protect them. The latest report said that much of the mass killings, rapes and kidnappings by the extremist groups were carried out without any resistance from the Nigerian services.

Thousands of representatives of the services in Nigeria also died in the attacks. The epidemic of attacks has caused a high level of anxiety among the general population. Eyewitnesses tell of children sleeping in trees at night for fear of the unexpected. A worrying finding is that people are most vulnerable to attack while at home.

Some of the abductees were sexually assaulted, the report said. Responsibility for the attacks is borne not only by the group “Boko Haram”, but also by other similar armed factions.
