The President of Syria Bashar Assad signed a decree on the formation of the new government of the Arab Republic. This was stated in a message from the office of the head of state, the content of which was provided by the agency SANA.

According to the text, “President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree establishing a new government under the leadership of Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali.“ Al-Jalali served as Minister of Communications and Technology from August 2014 to July 2016. From 2008 to 2014, he served as Deputy Head of the Ministry of Communications.

Bassam Sabagh has been appointed to the post of foreign minister in the new Syrian government, and former Syrian foreign minister Faisal Mikdad has been appointed to the post of vice president of the republic, the agency noted. >

According to the text, Mikdad has the task of “monitoring the implementation of [the concept of] foreign policy, as well as media policy in accordance with the instructions of the president of the republic.“

On September 14, the head of state's office announced that the Syrian leader had instructed former Minister of Communications and Technology Al Jalali to form a new cabinet. He succeeded Hussein Arnous as prime minister, who headed the executive branch from 2020. The new head of government is expected to present a program to stabilize the national economy in parliament.
