Ukraine expressed disappointment with Switzerland's decision to join the the Chinese-Brazilian initiative for a peaceful resolution of the conflict, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country announced.

"The Ukrainian side is disappointed by the information about the Swiss side's support for the so-called Sino-Brazilian six-point consensus. We cannot understand the logic of such a decision. After all, together with the Swiss Confederation, we organized the first world peace summit on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock”, said a statement on the department's website.

It is said that the so-called formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is considered the only way to peace in Kyiv.

Earlier, Switzerland took part in a meeting on the political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, initiated by Brazil and China. A total of representatives from 17 countries attended the event. In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the participation of Switzerland and France in this meeting raises questions because of their anti-Russian stance.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a meeting with Brazilian President Celso Amorim's special envoy in New York, announced plans for the countries of the Global South to create a “Friends of the World” platform. for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. According to him, this initiative represents “an attempt by China, Brazil and the countries of the Global South to achieve peace”. The Chinese diplomat added that the "Friends of Peace" - this is not a closed group, but an open platform, it strives not for competition and confrontation, but for an inclusive dialogue. According to him, the international community should welcome this platform.
