Chinese balloon was intercepted last night near the northwestern part of Taiwan, in the air defense identification zone of the island, Taiwan's Ministry of Defense said today, quoted by Agence France-Presse, writes BTA.
It is noted that this is the first such case since the following April.
Beijing frequently sends fighter jets, drones and warships near Taiwan to exert pressure on the island, which it views as its territory.
The balloon was detected at 18:21 on Sunday, about 111 km northwest of Taiwan and at an altitude of 10,058 meters, said Taiwan's Ministry of Defense, which publishes daily data on China's military presence around Taiwan.
