Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting Paris within the framework of his diplomatic tour among his main European allies, aimed at gaining more support against the Russian invasion, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA.
Cease fire “is not a topic of conversation with our allies”, Zelensky said this evening after a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. He stated that the information about the ceasefire was “Russian disinformation”.
Zelensky also called for a rapid increase in Western aid.
„Before winter, we need your support”, he stressed.
For his part, Macron assured that France's aid continues “in accordance with the commitments”, and highlighted the “progress in training and equipping a brigade”.
Zelensky is expected to visit Rome and then Berlin. The tour comes less than a month before the presidential elections in the United States, the uncertain outcome of which raises concerns in Kiev about the sustainability of American support, notes AFP.
However, the prospect of a Donald Trump victory was played down by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in London, where he met with Zelensky.
„Stop worrying about the Trump presidency,” he told reporters earlier today.
„I am absolutely convinced that the United States will participate because they understand that it is not only about Ukraine, but also about themselves”, added the NATO Secretary General.
This morning in London, President Zelensky presented British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Mark Rutte with details of his “victory plan” against Russia, stated in a statement of the Ukrainian presidency, quoted by AFP.
