Yemeni Houthis launched their fourth strike in 72 hours on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea, preventing an air strike against the Arab republic. This was reported on his Telegram channel by the representative of the armed rebel forces, Yahya Sariya.
According to him, the attack was carried out with several cruise missiles and drones.
„After the resumption of our operations in support of the oppressed Palestinian people, our armed forces detected military activity in the Red Sea by the enemy, who was preparing to carry out a large-scale air aggression against our country. In response, the missile forces, the navy and the units responsible for unmanned aerial vehicles conducted a joint operation using several cruise missiles and drones, the target of which was the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman, which led to the disruption of the enemy's plans and the failure of the aggression. During the operation, all the set objectives were successfully achieved,“ said Sariya.
“This strike on a US aircraft carrier is the fourth in 72 hours,” he added.
Sariya said on March 16 that the USS Harry Truman and its accompanying ships were attacked using 18 ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as a drone. He said the Houthis would continue operations against US warships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and block the passage of Israeli merchant ships through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until the Jewish state resumes humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip.
The US military is striking Houthi positions in Saada province in the northwestern part of the country, the rebel-controlled Al Masirah TV channel reported.
He said targets were being shelled in the Tahiya area of the Majiz district. There were no reports of casualties.
On March 15, the US, on the orders of President Donald Trump, began carrying out massive strikes on territory in Yemen that is under the control of the Houthi movement. The operation is aimed at protecting US interests and ensuring freedom of navigation, the US Central Command said. According to the Houthi government's health ministry, 53 people were killed in the strikes and another 98 were injured.
