The Israeli army announced the death of its colonel in battles in the Gaza Strip, reported TASS.
According to the press service, the deceased is 41-year-old Ehsan Daxa, commander of the 401st armored brigade. He “fell in combat in the northern part of the Gaza Strip”, the announcement said.
As a result of the same incident, another officer from the same brigade was seriously injured, the army said. He was evacuated to a hospital for treatment; for now, his name, surname and rank are not revealed.
Meanwhile, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli strikes on the town of Beit Lahiya in the northern part of the Gaza Strip and called the actions of the Israeli authorities in the Palestinian enclave a "disgrace to humanity".
