Erdogan with a new peace plan: Postpone NATO membership and a demilitarized zone in Ukraine - 1

At the next G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will propose a plan to freeze the conflict in Ukraine along the current front line, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.

According to interlocutors of the agency, the Turkish president will present his plan on Monday at a meeting of the G-20 leaders. Sources add that Erdogan will propose to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to postpone the discussion on joining NATO for at least 10 years.

Furthermore, Turkey's idea envisages the creation of a demilitarized zone in the eastern part of Donbass and the deployment of "international military forces” there.

Turkish authorities consider this the most realistic way to resolve the conflict, although they admit that it will be difficult for Ukraine to accept such a proposal, Bloomberg concludes.
