Polish farmers started a protest near the Medica-Sheghini checkpoint on the border with Ukraine, blocking the movement of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons from Ukraine, writes BBC.
According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, the strike will last 48 hours and may be extended.
Farmers are unhappy with the increase in agricultural taxes, as well as with the signing by the European Union of a free trade agreement with the countries of South America.
Protests by Polish farmers and truck drivers took place in the spring and fall of last year.
They protested against relief granted by the European Commission to tackle climate change, as well as rising costs and unfair competition from non-EU countries, especially Ukraine.
