The UK has delivered dozens of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine, Bloomberg reports, citing own sources. This is the first such delivery under new Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has promised to continue support for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia.
According to the information, the missiles, capable of striking deep into Russian territory, were sent even before their use was authorized for strikes against Russia. The move comes at a time when Kiev is in need of long-range weapons after its stockpile has been depleted.
Strengthening Ukraine before political changes
Bloomberg notes that the US and Britain are stepping up military aid to Ukraine in light of Donald Trump's impending return to the presidency, which could change Washington's approach to the conflict.
The deliveries were made several weeks ago without being publicly announced, but underline London's commitment to Kiev's continued resistance to Russian forces.
Cooperation between France and Great Britain
Meanwhile, the French newspaper Le Monde reports that France and Great Britain have stepped up their negotiations to strengthen defense cooperation. The aim is to create a core of allies in Europe to support Ukraine and strengthen the security of the continent in a wider context.
„There are discussions between the UK and France about defense cooperation, with a focus on helping Ukraine and keeping Europe safe,” said in a statement quoted by Le Monde.
This news comes at a critical time for Ukraine, which continues to fight on the front lines as Western allies look for ways to bring long-term stability and security to the region.
