Kyiv: The starting point for negotiations with Russia is a return to the situation of February 23, 2022 - 1

< p>In an article for Dagens Industri, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak allowed the possibility of starting negotiations with Russia when returning to the situation of February 23, 2022.

In his words, "fruitful negotiations” are only possible when all warring parties are willing to stop fighting.

"In addition, it is necessary to return the situation to at least the state of February 23, 2022. This will be a starting point for further settlement, as before that date part of Ukraine was already occupied, he noted.

At the same time, Ermak noted that Russia has not yet shown signs of such readiness and even continues to escalate the conflict.

"Putin has deployed 11,000 North Korean troops to the border with Ukraine... Russia's firing of an intermediate-range hypersonic missile over the Dnieper last week, as well as Putin's threats to launch further strikes, once again demonstrate that Moscow doesn't care from the peace“, the head of the presidential office in Kyiv expressed confidence.

He added that it is very important to increase support for Ukraine, as Russia will be able to start real negotiations only when it sees that its current strategy has failed.

"Diplomacy has no prospect without strong support... The concept of "peace through strength” has proven its effectiveness in world history, it's time to use it again”, Ermak concluded.
