The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the appointment of General Keith Kellogg as a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, said spokesman Giorgi Tihi, quoted by Ukrinform and BTA.

„We welcome the nomination of General Keith Kellogg for this mission. It's really important and complicated," Tihi stressed.

According to him, Kellogg is not a new figure for Ukraine. Over the years, the Ukrainian embassy in the US has maintained close contacts with him, especially within the framework of expert diplomacy. Tychy expressed confidence that this partnership will deepen in the general's new role.

„We expect even more active cooperation with him and will work to establish effective contacts,”, the spokesperson added.

Kellogg – a key figure in American policy on Ukraine

Kellogg's nomination was announced on November 27 by US President-elect Donald Trump. Former Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell was also discussed as a possible candidate for the post, but Kellogg was ultimately selected.

Keith Kellogg, a former military general, has already proposed a plan to end the war in Ukraine. This plan includes freezing the conflict and pressuring Kiev and Moscow to start negotiations.

Kellogg's new role is of key importance amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, and his goal will be to find a diplomatic solution to end the conflict.
