We must provide enough assistance to Ukraine to change the direction of the conflict, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a press conference after a two-day meeting of the alliance's foreign ministers at the organization's headquarters in Brussels, BTA reported.
We want Ukraine to be in a strong position so that one day the government in Kiev can enter into negotiations with the Russian side to end the conflict. The Ukrainian government has to decide this and be in a strong position to get what it wants and not let (Russian President Vladimir) Putin take what he is seeking - he has to understand that there is no way out, Rutte added. I can't say who should be at the negotiating table, he added when asked whether NATO participation could be expected.
The war in Ukraine is a threat to all - in exchange for troops and weapons provided by Pyongyang, Russia is providing North Korea with help to develop its missile and nuclear programs. This could destabilize the Korean peninsula and even pose a threat to the United States, the secretary-general explained.
