The visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Lebanon, scheduled for today, has been postponed due to a government plane breakdown, Greek media reported, quoted by BTA.

According to information from the Air Force General Staff, cited by ANA-MPA, the government plane suffered a technical failure and the planned trip cannot be carried out.

Mitsotakis' cabinet announced that the Prime Minister's visit to Lebanon has been postponed for one of the next days.

In Beirut, Mitsotakis was to hold talks with the country's Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and representatives of the Greek community in Lebanon.

The visit would have been the first by a representative of a third country, an EU member state, following the November 26 ceasefire between Israel and “Hezbollah” and was expected to send “a strong message in favor of stability and peace in the region” and demonstrate support for Lebanon in implementing the ceasefire.
