President-elect of the United States Donald Trump declared that on his first day of work he would pardon the persons who participated in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, BTA reported.
„I'm going to act very quickly, day one,” Trump said on NBC News when asked when he planned to pardon supporters accused of the attack aimed at thwarting his election defeat in 2020
Trump said there may be “some exceptions” upon his pardon, if the persons acted “radically“ or “crazy“ during the attack, which injured over 140 police officers and resulted in several deaths.
But Trump has described the prosecution of his supporters as fundamentally flawed and has not ruled out pardoning more than 900 defendants who have already pleaded guilty, including those accused of violence during the attack.
