This is a pure terrorist act. This case cannot be compared to what happened in Berlin 8 years ago or with Strasbourg 4 years ago. But the approach is the same”. This was commented by Arabist Prof. Vladimir Chukov in the program “Wake up” on NOVA regarding the attack in Magdeburg.
He also commented that the doctor detained for the attack is from Saudi Arabia, and this is a country that accepts refugees, not deports them. In previous terrorist attacks, the perpetrators were from Afghanistan, Tunisia and other countries from which there are refugees.
According to Prof. Chukov, however, the situation in this province of Germany - Saxony-Anhalt, has deteriorated significantly with regard to refugees.
„I have a doctoral candidate from Thuringia, an Arab, a lawyer. When I asked him why he wanted to come to Bulgaria, he said that almost all the professors at the university are supporters of the „Alternative for Germany”. The attitude has become obviously tense, there is intolerance”, commented Prof. Chukov.
In the case of Magdeburg, Islamist flashes were also observed. Therefore, local authorities must pay serious attention and answer many questions, believes Prof. Chukov.
He expects „Alternative for Germany” to raise its voice again and be a serious competitor to the Christian Democrats, who are expected to win the elections.
