Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, considered the architect of the country's economic reforms, has died at the age of 92, BTA reports.

He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi in a critical condition and despite the efforts of doctors, he died. According to the health facility, he was suffering from age-related ailments and lost consciousness suddenly at home.

Singh was India's prime minister for two terms (2004-2014) and played a key role in the economic reforms of 1991 that stabilized the economy and began the era of liberalization. Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India, expressed his condolences and emphasized the importance of his leadership and wisdom.
