Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had expressed condolences to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev over the Azerbaijani plane that crashed in Kazakhstan and which Azerbaijani sources told Reuters, quoted by BTA, is believed to have been shot down by Russian air defenses.
"The key priority now is a thorough investigation to provide answers to all questions about what really happened. "Russia must provide clear explanations and stop spreading disinformation," Zelensky said in a statement on the X network after the conversation.
In a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin apologized for the incident with the Azerbaijani plane on December 25 that occurred in Russian airspace. The crash killed 38 of the 67 people on board the plane.
