A Ukrainian border guard was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the murder of the commander of his military unit in the Khmelnytskyi region in Western Ukraine, the Ukrainian publication "Strana" reported, citing the decision of the Yarmolynetskyi court of the Khmelnytskyi region.
The verdict shows that on February 6, 2024, the defendant reported to duty and was given a machine gun and ammunition. A few days earlier, he had a fight with the commander of the border unit with the rank of colonel, who, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, threatened to kill the serviceman. As a result of the threat, the border guard shot his commander in the canteen, after which he was detained by law enforcement officers.
Later, the detainee tried to simulate mental illness, but this did not help him - the court found him guilty of premeditated murder.
