Far-right candidate Calin Georgescu has a significant lead over other potential participants in the Romanian presidential elections, Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.
The agency cited a poll according to which Georgescu enjoys 38 percent support among Romanians.
A full 13 percentage points behind him is Crin Antonescu, who was nominated by the pro-European ruling coalition.
Third in popularity is Bucharest Mayor Nicos Dan, who may enter the race as an independent candidate.
Georgescu, an outspoken critic of NATO and a supporter of understanding with Moscow, pulled off a huge surprise last November when he won the first round of the presidential election.
Two days before the second round, however, Romania's Constitutional Court annulled them, citing allegations of Russian interference in the electoral process in Georgescu's favor.
A runoff is scheduled for May 4.
