Germany plans to send "Eurofighter" fighter jets to Poland this summer to help protect the airspace on NATO's eastern flank. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during his visit to the Polish military airfield "Jasionka", Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.
Two "Patriot" air defense systems, already deployed in southeastern Poland, will be fully equipped and ready for operation from Monday. They will protect the airspace in the region for the next six months, Pistorius added.
These measures reflect NATO's increased efforts to strengthen the defense of its eastern members in the context of ongoing tensions in the region.
