Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has sharply criticized the Israeli government over its decision to allow hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to return to the northern Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian Islamist organization “Hamas“. The news was reported by DPA, citing a post by Lapid on the social platform “X“, BTA reports.
“The fact that the residents of the Gaza Strip are returning to their homes before all the residents of the Israeli border area near Gaza have returned is heartbreaking evidence of this government's inability to govern the country“, Lapid pointed out in his publication.
According to media statements by “Hamas“, about 300,000 people have returned to their homes in the northern part of Gaza, an area under the control of the movement.
The international agency DPA notes that it is not possible to confirm these data through independent sources.
